Many activities have taken place within the Cedar Grove UMW since the last newsletter. It seems, as we get closer to the end of the year our work multiplies. The number of shoeboxes for the Samaritan’s Purse totaled 22 this year according to Rachel Pope. Thanks to everyone who prepared and turned in a shoebox which will be going to “little ones” with intent of letting them know that they are precious to God, too!

By the time this newsletter gets into your hands the mission study on Faith and Globalization and the Moravian Love Feast will have taken place. Many thanks go out to EVERYONE who helped make these two activities take place! We hope those who attended these events found them enjoyable and were able to take something away from them, which may impact their everyday lives.

As a part of the holiday season our congregation usually adopts a family or group. The UMW tries to coordinate this. Since the food pantry at OCIM is in need of having their shelves stocked with food, the UMW felt this was very important. Brown paper bags with all the specifics were passed out after church this past Sunday and will be distributed again. You may leave your filled bags in the Fellowship Hall and we will take from there. Please turn in all bags by Dec. 16, 2007. Carol Lovingood is the UMW contact person if you have questions.

In December, the UMW will not hold their regular monthly meeting. We will be meeting Wed. Dec. 12, 2007 at 6:30pm at Carver’s on Elm in Graham as a group. This will be a time for all the ladies of the UMW to relax and enjoy the fellowship of one another.

The January 2008 meeting will be held Wed., Jan. 23, 2008 at the home of Rachel Pope. Watch the bulletins for the time. The cookbook is almost ready for the publisher. A BIG THANK YOU goes out to everyone who submitted recipes! Joy Kwapien has put in many long hours organizing all these recipes and has done a wonderful job. Thanks Joy! We will let you know just as soon as this book comes out.
